This Flash file (name in Japanese on the title screen possibly being "コグをたおして町をすくえ" [Defeat the Cog and save the town]) (filename being start.swf) is a cutscene video that discusses the Cogs' invasion of Toontown. The video is played when the start button is pressed.

Plot

Summary

The video starts out with a news reporter Toon that is a tan cat (who is not an actual NPC in Toontown Online, and appears to be a random Toon created solely for this cutscene). As the cat talks, cat sound effects taken directly from Toontown Online are played, and he nods his head up and down while facing the camera. After the tan cat gives the news about the ongoing Cog invasion, a Cog invades his news station. It is unknown what happens to the tan cat afterwards since the screen cuts to static before his fate is shown. After this, it is revealed that Flippy was watching this news station. Flippy briefly monologues with an angry expression on his face (presumably preparing to go fight the Cogs in response to the news report) and the cutscene ends.

Music

The music in this cutscene is the Brrrgh's street theme. The music is looped while the tan cat is giving his news report, and ends when the news station gets invaded by the Cogs.

Trivia

• This Flash file is mentioned deep in the code of the Japanese Pie Throwing game, possibly suggesting that at one point in time, the two Flash files were connected with each other (i.e. start.swf possibly being originally intended to be the opening cutscene for the Japanese Pie Throwing game, or some other way of being connected). The art style of start.swf also resembles the Japanese Pie Throwing game's art style (with the character sprites and several other assets being taken from in-game Toontown Online models and textures), further suggesting a connection between the two files. This Flash file's title screen also has the Japanese symbols "コグをたおして" on its title screen, which appear to translate to something similar to the symbols on the title screen of the Japanese Pie Throwing game ("コグをたおせ"), that translation possibly being "Defeat the Cog". This again suggests a connection between the two files.
• This Flash file not only appeared on a Japanese Disney website, but also appeared in a 2005 Toontown Japan Winter CD-ROM.
